Ooh, I like this question!
I am extremely adamant about this, because I had a near-death experience. One can learn a lot from an NDE, if they can remember the experience.
I believe, we come back here to earth many, many times before we ‘retire’. However, I believe it depends on how well we learn all we came here to learn, as to how many times we will return.
And I also have faith in God. I feel that God has a specific purpose for all the planets in the universe. We only know this in “spirit” form.
We remember nothing as we pass through dimensions , upon re-entering earth.

It can be summed up with an old adage: A fool and his money are soon parted.

If I had a past life, I would not be as ignorant as I am in this one.

it has to be taken with a grain of salt. sometimes, the mind creates scenarios to help it deal with current issues, sometimes, the mind has access to real past-life memories. ultimately, tho, it doesn't matter. the subconscious knows what it needs, and delving into its depths under the supervision of a trained practitioner can help you deal with your issues.
people who claim to be famous or notorious figures from the past, however, are almost always full of felgar carb. if we had a real michelangelo for every fluffy bunny who claimed to have been michelangelo in a past life, the world would be a much more beautiful place…
i keep meaning to look more into some of the cases of indian children being born aware of their past lives, but haven't got around to it yet. there's so much cool stuff that happens over there, it's mind-boggling.

It’s like any other form of hypnosis, powered by suggestion.

Is not only possible but I believe it’s beneficial in understanding who we are now, and can give purpose and direction in our lives. Look at all the Buddhist Bodhisattvas who go through rebirth time and time again. Choosing to help all sentient beings. It always makes me laugh when people claim we were all famous in our past lives. Well we probably were at some point, but no one I know who has gone through regression has only been famous or well to do. They first and foremost remember their very “ordinary” lives and experiences.

I am still on the fence about this one.
Personally I have always felt that there have been “deja vus” since I was a child. Places I have seen or been that bring like little flash pics in my head but in other times where the old buildings were new, in a way. Other times, I am not so sure. The thing that makes me think is that there are people that have had organs or limbs transplanted and the new owner has dreams or memories of the other persons life. Then there are people that have reoccuring phobias but never experienced them in the physical sense but can go under hypnosis and have a recall of that “phobia experience” from a past life, then work through from it and be cured. Then there are the NDE’s that say they have seen the other side or the other plain and sometimes their recalls are similar to those that have had past life regression therapies as well as those of the transplant patients that sometime will recall the death experience of the donor as well as their living memories. The Hindus believe in Karma, and by the definition of such, coinsides with the past life regressions of many people as well as transplant patients. Maybe they knew something over 5000 yrs ago that we are just learning or was previe to them before the rest of the world. All ancient cultures all over the world have some type of belief similar to this. Even going to the white light when we transition. Who knows. The more I study on these the more I sit on the fence. I guess I will sway when or if it ever happens to me.

I’ve never had any experience that suggested it was real. I can’t comment on the experience of others…although I think people who insist they were someone famous in another life have largely fooled themselves. I see no reason why only famous people should reincarnate. Its amazing how many people were kings and queens and how few people were half starved peasants.

I definitely believe we can gain a lot of knowledge about ourselves and all that is spiritual through the use of hypnotism. People can even be hypnotised so that they can give us information on the period between lives. Michael Newton in his book "Journey of Souls" writes about this. But, one must realize that just like our memory of our immediate past is not perfect, one must expect a memory of a past life, or ones perspective on what happens between lives to be even less reliable. But, I believe that we can use dreams (in ones sleep) as well as hypnotism to gain access to more knowledge about all things spiritual. That we do not have all the answers to how this universe operates on the spiritual level, and will be able to discover through exacting type research a lot more than we now know. This is a good thing, since the more we are aware of spiritually, the more we will advance in our ability to act in a moral way in a world that does not have the highest level of morality. Science does not have all the answers. We need our spiritual knowledge to advance in a way similar to how science has advanced. So, I am all for using past life regressions done by people with the right training as a means of learning more about oneself as well as more about the spiritual dimension of life.

Tahuti, the problem with past life regression is that we have NO way of knowing whether or not our mind is playing tricks on us or if the “memories” are real and actually happened. As for my own experiences, Yes, I have done past life meditations and have relived some of my past lives. I can honestly tell you that NONE of them so far have been lives of opulence, comfort, power or influence. I believe that I have always been JUst an average person leading an average life, and that’s more than good enough for me. I DO know that MOST of my past lives had had something to do with the worship of Goddess and/or God, yet in none was I any more than just another average, run-of-the-mill believer and certainly NOT a great leader or a great writer of the age.
Brightest Blessings,
Raji the Green Witch
