I'm writing an essay on escapism regarding a particular studied text, and I was wondering whether the protagonist's eventual departure from his home (which had been the root of his distress, and, thus, had caused him to resort to escapism through alcohol, books, etc.) could be considered an element of escapism.
Yes, if other avenues of mental escape are cut off, physical removal is a viable option and would be considered a form of escapism. imho.
