Michael Shermer takes a seminar on remote viewing, a form of ESP in which one attempts to psychically view a remote object, person, or place through intuition or a sixth sense. Shermer reveals the normal explanation for this apparently paranormal phenomenon.

Ha, true. As a …
Ha, true. As a former scientist, I can atest to the subjective nature of the scientific process. Faith really rules everything. If a skeptic believes he is right, he actually modifies the output of an event to what he expects. The mind is so terribly misunderstood even by the most “intelligent” of people. Intuition, a function of our consciousness (or soul) is far beyond the power of rational thought.

Shermer is very …
Shermer is very good in this; he says (in his gentle and unthreatening way) that the chap who wrote ‘Stonehenge’ could have been told this….he wasn’t calling anyone a cheat or fraud, but was just pointing out how important it is for these paradigm shifting claims to be tested properly.

Another way of …
Another way of saying, “I’m too lazy to test this.” Your “belief” doesn’t change the facts.

it’s funny a mean a dog or orse can do better than these people. The mind actually hinders
psychic activities which is below and above dualism. Mankind were psychic before we became totally engrossed in mental activities, known as the fall of man.
The guy who wrote stonehenge was more still at mind and that increased his posibility of telepathy.

they something …
they something aren’t they.
those with the gift hardly use it selfishly, because they know that’s the all pervading oneness that make psychism a possibility.
They have no uncondtional love and they are already bringing spiritual abilities to animalistic aims. Lowlifes you are right. They are wasting their time.

Read Ingo Swann’s ” …
Read Ingo Swann’s “Natural ESP.” These guys are doing it wrong. “Naming” what you see leads to imagining, rather than seeing, what’s there. Words are almost always misleading because we imagine with models we already have formed in our heads instead of seeing what’s there.

It’s really easy to …
It’s really easy to set up an experiment to test this yourself. Get a cardboard storage box and a friend. Take a few plant hangers and have your friend tape a few random items in the bottom of the box and suspend it from the ceiling so that you can’t see what they are. Get paper and pencil and try to “see” what is inside the box. I did this and got about 80% accuracy, though I couldn’t identify anything by name until we took the box down.

He never said he …
He never said he was convinced, he stated: “how do I know?”. Skepticism doesn’t mean ‘I just don’t beleive, therefore your wrong’. In order to understand, one must ask questions of how something works, or if it is true at all. This requires research, and critical observation; one must try to disprove any claim and phenomenon since self-deception is too easy. It is important to note that research should be done in search of truth, and not too confirm ones beleif or disbeleif.

Ideally, a remote …
Ideally, a remote viewing session should include a team of 4 or 5 people, blind to the target, with collaboration and at least a week to work on it. Unless people come up with the same stuff, it is generally an error on the viewer’s protocol, ie Analytical Overlay. There is a reason that the Amazing Randi won’t answer the phone to remote viewers anymore,so I suggest you first learn what ‘good’ remote viewing is before you design your experiments.

Geez, I have more …
Geez, I have more talent than the people he used for that experiment! Maybe if he tasks out anyone with decent ability he might get better results (Ed Dames, late Pat Price, Mel Reily, David Moorehouse, Joe Mcgoneagle…). Plus, the instructor is a nobody, who IMO breaks protocol designed to prevent errors like this from occurring.
